Siemens Financial Services Unveils New Carbon Reduction Tool
“The DBO tackles these obstacles head-on, empowering companies of all sizes and stages to generate sustainable value while speeding up their journey towards achieving net-zero emissions.”
What Led to the Development of the DBO?
The DBO is more than just another tool for calculating carbon footprints.
Developed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with a serverless architecture, this tool is designed to maintain a minimal carbon footprint.
According to Amazon, the efficiency of the AWS infrastructure can be up to four times greater than traditional on-premises setups. By optimizing workloads, it’s possible to cut down the associated carbon emissions by as much as 99%.
This cutting-edge approach allows the DBO to function only when necessary, instead of operating continuously, thus exemplifying the efficiency it strives to promote.
The tool leverages verified datasets from respected sources, including the US Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
This reliance on high-quality, scientifically validated data ensures that the assessments and recommendations provided by the DBO are both reliable and credible.
Roderick Jackson, the Laboratory Program Manager for Building Technologies at NREL, notes, “Access to trusted datasets, combined with effective modeling and analysis tools, is crucial for making informed decisions in the quest for a clean energy future.”
