Super Blue Moon to Appear in Pakistan Tonight at 11:26 PM
Tonight, at 11:26 PM, Pakistan will witness its first super blue moon of the year, according to the country’s space research agency, SUPARCO.
The agency also announced that three more super moons will be visible on September 18, October 17, and November 15.
The term “blue moon” originated centuries ago when a volcanic eruption in the 19th century altered the sky’s color, making the full moon appear blue.
Blue Moon in Pakistan
On August 19, the moon will be 226,000 miles away from Earth, appearing 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual. This month’s super blue moon is particularly special because after this, the next one won’t be visible until 2037. However, the seasonal blue moon will reappear sooner.
In 2024, there will be a supermoon visible in the sky for four consecutive months: August, September, October, and November.
Types of Blue Moons
There are two types of blue moons: seasonal and monthly. A seasonal blue moon is the third of four full moons in a single season, and one will be visible in Pakistan on August 19.
A monthly blue moon occurs when there are two full moons in a single month of the Gregorian calendar.
